Christine “Tina” Haramis was born in Syracuse, New York on March 26, 1955 as the second daughter of Chris and Betty Haramis. Tina graduated from West Genesee High School in 1973. At the age of 21, she headed west to Los Angeles to continue her studies at Pierce College in music theory, piano, art, and audio engineering.
As a fashion entrepreneur, Tina founded the successful clothing boutique, La Dee Da, which she operated for over 14 years.
Tina developed a great love for music at a young age, taking refuge in her headphones listening to her favorite classic rock artists including; The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and Pink Floyd (among others). She later gravitated towards new groups like The Pretenders and Tears for Fears in the 80s, and she eventually developed a taste for eclectic and obscure acts such as Porcupine Tree and Blackfield. She could be found at the Rainbow Bar & Grill on Sunset Blvd. most weekends after enjoying live concerts in Hollywood.
As a two-time heart transplant recipient, Tina had a great outlook on life and always got back up no matter what adversity she faced. With a great appreciation for having been given a second, and then a third chance at life; Tina gave back her time in spirit as President of the Los Angeles chapter of the Transplant Recipient International Organization (TRIO) for four years. Tina also served on the board of directors of the Regional Organ Procurement Agency (ROPA) as an organ recipient liaison. In these positions, Tina helped those awaiting organ transplants overcome their fears by offering her unwavering moral support.
Tina had a passion for animal rights and was also on the board of directors for the Animal Life Rescue Group where she, “Fell in love every day” placing animals with new families.
As Tina puts it, “I’ve always lived the dream and had the fun of three people. I have been so blessed for all of my friends and my support group who were always there for me. I am so grateful for my doctors, my nurses, my family, my friends, and ‘my village’ who were so supportive throughout the years. Remember, ‘Every breath is a gift.’”
Tina is survived by her sisters Maria Allis and Anglia, her brother Lee, her sister-in-law Lori, her brother-in-law John, her niece Jenna, her nephews Jacob Haramis, Christopher, Damian and Gregory Allis, her great nephew Theodore, and great niece Eliana.
