A MESSAGE FROM THE FAMILY
Obituary for Charles Edward Allen Gill ("Chuck")
June 26, 1942 – January 2, 2025
Lancaster, California It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Edward Allen Gill, fondly known as "Chuck," on January 2, 2025, at the age of 82. Chuck was born on June 26, 1942, to Tommy Eldon Gill and Ethel Mary Ellen Gill, both of whom preceded him in death. Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Gwen Bernice Gill, and their children: Cheryl (Ray), Cathy, Crystal (Paul), and Chip. He is also survived by his siblings Maryann (Jack) Dart, Sharon Ivie, James (Carrie) Gill, Tommie Boswell, Dessie (Mark) Herren, and his cousin who was like a brother to him Robert Lee Culverson. Chuck’s legacy continues through his 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. A proud member of the Navy, Chuck led a life full of joy, laughter, and love. He had a passion for golf, both playing the game and watching it whenever he could. His love of the sport was only matched by his enjoyment of spending time with his family and his playful sense of humor, especially when it came to joking around with his grandchildren. His infectious smile and warm laughter could light up any room, and he loved to share his passions with those around him. A lifelong reader, Chuck had a voracious appetite for books, often reading multiple books a day. His inquisitive mind and love of learning were constants throughout his life. Yet his greatest joy was his devotion to his family, especially his beloved "babe," Gwen, who was the center of his world. Chuck and Gwen were married on November 4, 1961, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held January 11, 2025. “A smile, a laugh, and a heart full of love—Chuck will never be forgotten.”
