Richard Hamilton Means

Richard was a man of quiet dedication and warmth. Originally from Greenville, Pennsylvania, he graduated with the GHS class of ‘64 before enlisting in U. S. Navy. He served four years as a corpsman, standing alongside the U.S. Marine Corps during his time at Vietnam-a period of his life that shaped his character and his deep compassion for others. That same heart led him to his 27-year career as a psych tech at the Sonoma Developmental Center, where he truly cherished the time he spent with his clients.

He found his greatest happiness in the simple joys of life- a day on the golf course, the memories of coaching our son's Little League baseball team, our many road trips across the U.S., and above all, the time he shared with family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love. He is survived by, his wife, Grace; son, Rick of Sonoma; his brother, James (Karen) of Healdsburg; and his niece, Kris and nephew, Brian, of Manassas, VA. He is now at peace, reunited with his parents, Vera and Harold, and his brothers, Gary E. and Bruce A Means.

In keeping with his wishes, Richard will be cremated and there will be no memorial service. He asked that you simply remember the good times you shared with him while he was here.
