June 5, 1942 - June 15, 2021
Our beloved Stanley Bryant, dedicated father and husband, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 15, 2021 at the age of 79. Stan was the ultimate definition of a true gentleman, always smiling, polite and helpful to strangers as well as family and his infinite number of friends. He was, indeed, a pillar of the San Fernando Valley and generous supporter of a number of charities not only from a monetary standpoint but also generous with his time in helping each and every charity he supported reach their anticipated goals and become successful. Stan attended Santa Barbara High School and graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1965 with a degree in Economics. He was President and Owner of NIA Insurance Group with his wife Sharon with offices in Northridge, Thousand Oaks and Ventura. . For all of his great work in the insurance industry, one only has to be around Stan for a short time to discover that his true passion - in addition to his family - is volunteering and helping the charitable organizations in the community of which there are many and too numerous to include but to name a few as follows:
A thirty year member of the North Valley YMCA where he was the founder of the first YMCA Trailblazer program, chairing the Y's capital campaign to build the North Valley YMCA at Porter Ranch, Chairman of North Valley Y Board, Chairman of the Los Angeles Metropolitan YMCA Board of Governors and as a member of the West Field Branch of the National YMCA, and recipient of the Golden Book Award and the Waller Taylor Service Award from Metropolitan YMCA.
Stan was especially proud of his work in support of adults with developmental disabilities and was the driving force into making "New Horizons: Serving Individuals with Special Needs" into a powerful voice for the underserved adults with special needs in the San Fernando Valley. He served two terms as Chairman of the Board and chaired numerous committees at New Horizons including Co-Chair of its highly successful capital and endowment campaign which raised over 4 million dollars to build a Workshop Annex Building. He was the recipient of the Fredrick J. Weitkamp Service Award.
Stan also served as Co-chair of the Police Activity League Association (PALS) in Northridge. Another notable cause Stan supported was Tierra del Sol where he was the Chair of the Burn the Mortgage campaign for which he received the Don Redding Leadership Award. The Kiwanis Club of Northridge honored Stan with the Citizen of the Decade Award in 1999.
Stan was also honored with the Armand Arabian Award and was two-time finalist for the prestigious Fernando Award, the highest honor award for volunteerism in the San Fernando Valley. Stan was a one-of-a-kind: a role model, a mentor, loving husband, father, friend to many and an inspiration to all those who knew him. He loved playing golf, travelling, reading, but first and foremost spending time with his loving family.
Stan and Sharon lived many years in Northridge Upon retirement Stan and Sharon moved to Oxnard.
Stan was preceded in death by his father, Stanley E. Bryant, Sr., his mother Bernice B. Bryant, brothers Thomas Bryant and Donald Bryant. Stan is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, his four children Michael, Melissa, Jennifer and Andrea.
He will be truly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
