Shortly after celebrating her 94th birthday on July 28, Patricia Claire Perry Andrus passed peacefully, surrounded by family in her Camarillo home on August 27, 2023. Patricia was born in Houma, Louisiana. She spent her young life in southwestern Louisiana where she met and married A.M Greg Andrus after he returned from the Pacific theatre during WWII. Their first daughter, Karen, was born while Greg was studying at LSU in Baton Rouge. She supported Greg through many educational degrees, often working as an administrative assistant.
Once a bit more settled in Northern Virginia, Candye and Tamara were born. Later, the family moved to Honolulu and then to Austin, where she lived until moving to Camarillo, California in 2003. Here she enjoyed a happy life filled with family birthdays and holidays, many trips to her granddaughter’s college golf tournaments, and socializing with her good friends in Leisure Village.
She was a true matriarch; not only a radiant beauty whose poise and grace lit up every room, but also a woman of quick wit and strength. She worked for equal treatment of women while with the USDA and felt passionate that high quality public education should be equal for all children. Dancing and the oldies, both music and movies brought her much delight. Her thumb was green and her gardens beautiful. Reading, truly was her favorite pastime.
She was predeceased by her husband A.M. Greg Andrus and her parents Mary Margaret and Meredith Clarence Perry, her beloved three younger brothers, Richard Flynn Perry, M.C. Perry, Jr., and Robert Terrence Perry.
She is further survived by her three daughters; Karen Jacobs and her husband Jay, Candye Andrus and her partner Roxanne Shoemaker, and Tamara Koenings and her husband Art. In addition to three daughters, she is survived by five granddaughters; Kelley Janes, Kristen Krueger, Haley Kuempel, Jensen Jacobs, Remy Nelson, one grandson, Bruce Baltas, and nine great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Padre Serra Parish Catholic Church in Camarillo, CA on Friday November 10, 2023 at 11 am.
