Pearce on May 13, 2025, at the age of 49. He passed away peacefully at his home in Santa
Barbara, California, USA.
Mark was very much a loner for most of his life. He had very few close friends, but he never
failed to give a helping hand to those who needed him. Be it in letting them stay with him for a
short period of time until they get back on their feet, lending them a helping hand with their
projects, or helping out with volunteer work.
Mark was born on May 29, 1975 in Bangkok, Thailand, to Malcolm Brian and Irene Wai-Ling
Pearce. He was two weeks old when we moved to Tehran, Iran. Two years later we moved to
Casablanca, Morocco. He attended a local French kindergarten for one year. The language
barrier proved to be very difficult and he transferred to the American International School the
following year. He was very happy there until we moved once again to Santa Barbara in 1982.
He attended the Summerland School, then Vieja Valley Elementary School when we settled
down in the area, followed by La Cumbre Junior High and graduated from San Marcos High
School in 1994.
He attended Santa Barbara City College for a while without completing a degree. He worked in
various local hardware stores part time during that time and joined the US Army Reserve in
March 1995. He was sent to Fort Knox in August thru October 1995 for basic training and
completed the training in Civil Affairs and Military Occupational Skill for Light Weight vehicle
mechanics. He was with the Reserve for 5 years until April 2000.
He had worked in various construction works including machinist, roofing, but found his niche in
hardwood flooring. He was mostly quiet and kept to himself, but would break out in a hearty
laugh while watching comedies. Mostly he went around town with his skateboard and bicycles.
Mark is survived by his mother, Irene Pearce and sister Michelle Pearce of Santa Barbara, and
her son Frederic Paul Manke IV of Rhode Island.
