In Joan’s earlier years, she danced with Jose Manero and his dance company of Santa Barbara. She danced in “Rosita,” Santa Barbara’s Fiesta Pageant at The County Bowl including the Fiesta Parades.
In 1986, she got her realtors license and joined Coldwell Banker of Ventura as a realtor in residential brokerage. It was a job she enjoyed along with all the people she worked with and clients she met for 30+ years.
She was an active volunteer working with Cats’ Cradle Cat Rescue, Pink Paws and PetSmart. She assisted in cat adoptions, neuter and spraying programs for over 10 years.
Joan loved all things cat related and everyone she met enjoyed her cat stories along with her cat design clothes and jewelry. She loved to cook and bake. Her specialty was pineapple upside down cake, pound cake and cookies of all kinds.
Joan was loved by many, by her family and especially her Siamese cat, Koko San. She leaves behind her two daughters, Catherine DeAlva and Nanci Fujio, two grandchildren, Breeanna and Brandon Fujio, and her beloved Siamese cat Koko San.
