Ernest Thomas Serrano

Ernie was born March 7, 1929 in Oxnard CA to Vincent and Elvira Serrano, he served in the US Army from 6/21/1948 to 6/21/1950 stationed in Alaska. Ernie became a Farm Worker in Oxnard working for the Vujovch and Brothers and Herb Naumann, later he became a Heavy Equipment Operator and joined the Local 12 Union of Operating engineers in Ventura County. Ernie worked for many Local contractors throughout Ventura County until he retired. Ernie loved doing things in his garage, wood working and making things, he also liked selling at the swap meets with Mr. Skidmore who lived down the street, he also enjoyed watching his kids growing up in the circle.

Ernie is survived by his wife of 73 years Josie "Queena", son Robert (Becky), daughter Kathy Soto (Eddie), son Randy (Linda), and daughter Vera Rodriguez (Roy), grandsons Eddie Soto and Tommy Botsford, granddaughters Yvonne Soto, Tina Ortiz, Paula Rieck and Shawna Hidde, total 13 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 42 great-great grandchildren and 1 great-great-great grandchild.

Ernie was preceded in death by his daughter Val, son Ernie, brothers Vincent and Robert Serrano, great grandson Paul Ortiz and his parents Vincent and Elvira Serrano.

Mass will be held at Saint Anthony Church on "C" in Oxnard on September 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
