Charles Edward Miles

Charles Edward Miles passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at his home. He was born November 22, 1959 at Cottage Hospital. His parents are Carolyn Ihlenfeld (Shupe) and Robert L. Miles MD. (deceased).

Charlie was full of life and enjoyed the company of his family and friends. He was born with one kidney, so from 8 years of age he was denied some of his favorite activities. He went to Adams School, Junior High in Plattsburgh, NY, and San Marcos High where he was a member of the Drum Line. He loved participating in the football half-time show. He attended the University of Georgia. Music was his favorite pastime and he could play almost any musical instrument. He loved being alone in his room listening to his music and then composing his own songs and playing his piano.

He was an electrician by trade and kept his fellow workers entertained with his unique sense of humor. He especially enjoyed being Manager of his daughter’s (Kelly Ann Miles) soccer team for several years. He went with the team to Florida for a national tournament where the team won the tournament. This was a highlight in his life.

Charlie was very interested in cooking and provided excellent meals for his mother and her friends. He read cook books and tried to create his own recipes and insisted his mother eat and like them. Charlie enjoyed going to the Elks 613 with a group of friends where he laughed, ate and enjoyed the new people in his life. Thanks to Ed Justus for his friendship to Charlie. Charlie was happy and thankful for all of you that crossed his path in recent year when he needed you.

Charlie’s family has realized that his death has created a huge void. We appreciate all the wonderful messages from so many friends and family. He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Ann Miles (Charlie loved her more than anything in the whole world) of Santa Barbara, his brother, Robert H. Miles, (Catherine Miles) and family, wife, Cindy Capra and his best friends, Zack, Madison, Nick Wagner. Cousins- Susan Miles Gulbransen (Gary) and family, - Bradley Miles (Emily) and family, - Carson Miles (Ruth) and family, Elizabeth Miles Jacobelli (Phil) of New Jersey, Penny, Jay, John Potter from West Virginia, Rebecca Watkins of Pittsburgh, PA, Joseph Watkins of Charleston, WV, Charles Ihlenfeld MD and William Parker MD, of NY, Bill Ihlenfeld (Diana) and family of Wheeling ,WV.

Thanks to his friends at the Dialysis Center for making his dialysis possible and all his doctors (he had many) at the Sansum Clinic.

I loved you unconditionally Charlie, and appreciated your many talents. I will miss your piano concerts performed just for me. Rest in Peace my son.
