Anthony John Alcock of Ventura County, California passed away on September 16th, 2023, at the age of 85 years old. He was born on April 23rd, 1938, in Birmingham, England where he grew up with brother Philip, mother Hilda and father Frank.
He graduated from The University of Aston in Birmingham in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. He did his thesis on nuclear resonance which later became the MRI technology.
He worked as a systems engineer for IBM for almost 20 years and then in computer sales and technology development for several companies for several decades before starting a health magazine. He had an amazing career and was very successful.
He was married four times and divorced four times. He always said he searched for love and never gave up on that. He was a hopeless romantic and loved the ladies.
He was an adventurer – first taking the leap to cross the pond with his first wife on the RMS Queen Elizabeth to settle in California after a long journey across the US from Ney York in a large 1959 Buick Electra. He travelled across Europe, Mexico and even to Thailand.
He was tinkerer and loved to build and fix things of all kinds. Very good with his hands and passed this skill to his son Jeremy. He was very proud of his vehicles he owned when he was young and often said these were the best times and memories of his life. His boat was the final vehicle he called home and the love he put into that boat was next level. Custom building teak elements and wood items to make life more comfortable on the water.
He is preceded in death by his father Francis Alcock and his mother Hilda May Alcock.
He is survived by his brother Philip Alcock, his son Jeremy Anthony Alcock and his companion Jeanne LeBlanc as well as his grandchildren Sebastian Hildan Alcock and Mabel Sarah Alcock.
Tony was an exceptional man in many ways. He had many friends and acquaintances. The boat and dock he lived on was special to him because he had all kinds of help and assistance when he needed it. It was a community of people he loved, and his wishes were to pass on that boat.
The family would like to thank Nilly Mauck and Arlene Ocampo for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.
A private service will be held at sea for the immediate family.
