Wynn Louise Tarson Collins, 76, of Long Beach died on April 25, 2019. She was born in Chicago to Henry and Sydelle Tarson. Together, with her younger brother Allen, the family relocated to Los Angeles when Wynn was 10 years old.
Wynn was married to Philip Collins from 1963 to 1975 and together they had one son, Scot Collins. Wynn went on to obtain her Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University in 1979 and passed the California State Bar in 1980.
Wynn was an attorney who served the community for many years. For most of her career, Wynn had her own law practice, often taking many pro bono cases representing abused women. She also served as a Judge Pro Tem and worked for Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, where she assisted many low income and disadvantaged individuals. An integral part of the community, Wynn volunteered for and was a part of many organizations, some for the past 30 years including the Special Olympics, Leadership Long Beach, and Women’s Legal Aid. She was a Long Beach Grand Prix Committee of 300 lifetime member, past board member, and legal counsel. Wynn was a past member and chairperson of the Long Beach Airport Advisory Commission.
Wynn enjoyed travelling, listening to live music, spending time with her friends and family, fighting for equality, dismantling the patriarchy, and drinking an occasional glass of wine.
Wynn is survived by her son, Scot Collins (Elizabeth Donovan) of Lake Havasu City, AZ; her grand-daughter Jessica Collins (Simon Perez) of San Diego; and her grand-daughter Janae Collins Davne (Benjamin Davne) of Long Beach. Wynn was preceded in death by her father, mother, and brother.
A celebration of life for friends and family of Wynn Collins will be held at Phil Trani’s Restaurant at 1 PM on Saturday May 18th.
