

Mary Pat Curran, 69, of Westchester, CA passed away on July 26, 2023 at her home, with family at her side. She was the daughter of the late Thomas J. “Joe” Curran and Eileen F. (O’Brien) Curran. Born in Boston and raised in Norwood, MA, she graduated from Stonehill College in 1975 and moved to California, her home for 47 years. Mary Pat faithfully returned to visit family in New England each year and never truly lost her Boston accent. She loved traveling and early on set a personal goal to visit all 50 states. She was close to achieving this goal, with Alaska remaining on her list. National parks were her favorite destinations and she explored over half in the U.S. National Park System. She enthusiastically encouraged others to get a Senior Lifetime National Park Pass when eligible, at age 62. Mary Pat loved holidays and elaborately decorated her home and yard for each occasion. She also enjoyed gardening, reading and creating handmade greeting cards. She worked for 38 years as a paralegal at Ervin, Cohen & Jessup, LLP. Mary Pat was predeceased by her parents, her sister Ellen Lambert and her Godchild, niece Erin McDermott. She is survived by her siblings Sheila T. McDermott (Timothy) of East Bridgewater; Peter J. Curran (Margaret) of Mansfield; Claire Curran-Balquist (Kenneth) of Wrentham; John A. Curran (Lisa) of Londonderry, NH. In addition, she is survived by her brother-in-law Charles E. Lambert of Franklin, 13 nieces and nephews and 7 great-nieces and nephews. Her faithful dog Fiona is now living in New England. She also leaves behind a strong, supportive community of friends. A family gathering celebrating Mary Pat’s life was held on August 5, 2023. Interment will be at a future date at Highland Cemetery, Norwood, MA. Donations in Mary Pat’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
