Gregorio P. Gagarinas, 89, passed away at home surrounded by his wife and children on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Gregorio was born May 9, 1933, in the village of Echague, province of Isabela, Philippines, to Bartolomé Gagariñas and Petronila Gagariñas. He was preceded in death by Bartolomé, Petronila, and his older sisters, Beatrix Gagariñas Biltz, and Felicidad Gagariñas Andrés. He was survived by his wife of 64 years, Lydia Gagarinas; daughter Gina, her husband, Greg Hubert, and their sons, Zachary, Tyler and Harrison Tate; son Gregory, his wife, Autumn, and their sons, Ian and Noah; son Gary, his wife, Kimberly, and their son, Isaac, and their daughter, Gabriella, and her husband, Justin Knight; daughter Gail and her daughter, Cassandra, Cassandra’s husband, DooHee Kwon (“DK”), and her son, Samuel; and sister, Rufina Felipe.
In the late 1950s Gregorio served in the U.S Navy as a machinist when he met and married Lydia in 1958. After his discharge from the Navy Gregorio was certified by the National Technical University in Los Angeles, Calif. and El Camino College in Torrance, Calif. as an electronic and television technician and starting in the 1960s worked for various Southern California aerospace companies. He enjoyed fishing in Redondo Beach with his friends from the old country and coaching his children’s baseball teams.
A service to celebrate Gregorio’s life and ascent into the arms of Jesus will be held at 11:00 am PST on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Lighthouse Community Church, 501 Van Ness Avenue, Torrance, Calif. 90501. A reception will immediately follow the service.
