Gerald (Jerry) D. Skalky shed his earthly bonds, after a brave and lengthy battle on August 7th, 2023. He was born May 20, 1937 to Adolph and Sarah (Graczyk) Skalky in Minneapolis, MN. The family moved to St. Paul, MN, where he grew up and graduated from a military academy. He left Minnesota and moved to Long Beach, CA, where he attended Long Beach City College, earning his AA degree. This led to a long career with the Port of Long Beach starting in 1965. He married and has three children, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Later in life, he married his wife of 36 years, Anella (Annie) Cushing Skalky in 1987. Together, they retired to Fallbrook, CA in 2000, and subsequently moved to Cypress, CA in 2016. He is survived by his wife, Annie, sister, Joan Locke of Lenexa, KS, sons, Thomas (Patti) Skalky (Lakewood, CA), Anthony (Kim) Skalky (Long Beach, CA), daughter, Theresa Skalky (Long Beach, CA), and stepdaughter, Honna –Lee Hollander (Seal Beach, CA). Grandchildren, Eileen Skalky (Long Beach, CA), Jamie (Rob) Rigney Skalky (Lakewood, CA), Jonathan Skalky (Cypress), Kathy (Cornelius) Blanchard (Las Vegas, NV) and great-grandchildren, Christopher, Noah, Leah, Lauren and Zayne, all of Las Vegas, NV . He was well loved and will be missed by many, especially his niece, Renee Burnes, Guerneville, CA, nephew, Chris Locke, Lenexa, KS, and niece, Lynn Marie (Brent) Huonker, Blue Springs, KS.
He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Lynn Burnes.
