A lifelong educator - her soul and her goal - Carla's boundless creativity and gift for recognizing and cultivating latent talents in others blessed the lives she touched with passion for learning, the determination to forge new skills, and deeper appreciation for the value of collaborative effort.

Carla shared her gifts freely and without condition, advancing affordable housing, public recreation and government accountability with quiet charm and perseverance. She championed policies of fairness and public trust, as well as many individuals struggling against the powers seeking to undermine them.

Whether co-worker, student, neighbor or accidental acquaintance, Carla engaged our interest and expanded our horizons. The Community values she lived and nurtured in others, the lasting friendships she kindled and the skills we acquired are an enduring tribute to her memory.
