Bill was born on February 27, 1938 to the late Adalbert & Marie Wolff in Brooklyn, NY, and passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 7, 2025 in the home he shared with his beloved wife, Priscilla Abarca McNiel Wolff, in San Antonio, TX.
He married Carol Ann Schroeder January 9,1960 in New York. He was a devoted family man. After Carol passed in 2011, proving that it's never too late to experience the joys of love and connection, at the age of 77, he met his wife Priscilla Abarca McNiel in 2015 online! They turned out to be a perfect match.
Bill & Priscilla married civil June, 24, 2015, Santo Niño Catholic Church May 7, 2016 after completing his Rite of Christian Initiation, and again June 13, 2018 renewed their marriage vows in Cana in the Holy Land. Bill and Priscilla shared a strong bond, filled with fun, including wearing their matching humorous shirts, and companionship.
Bill's story reflects a life of service, resilience, and dedication. His time in the Navy, his continued commitment to serving the country through Civil Service, first with the Air Force, then with the Army speaks to his strength and dedication to supporting national defense even after his active duty. He retired from Civil Service at 5th Army Ft Sam Houston, where he was Deputy Chief of Staff for Information Management, as a GM-15. Bill then worked security in the private sector including for the San Antonio Museum of Art. His love for reading and storytelling suggests a reflective and insightful nature, and his participation in the FBI Citizens Academy demonstrates a deep interest in law enforcement and community service. Finally, Bill's decision to retire early so that others could keep their jobs speaks volumes about his selflessness and commitment to the well-being of those around him. Bill was a friend to everyone and was always the first to offer his assistance with fixing or building anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Albert Wolff, sister Judy Freudenthal and her husband Al.
Bill is survived by his wife Priscilla, daughter Chris (Jim) Emery, grandchildren Amanda Emery and Brandon (Jessica) Emery; son Bill (Ellen) Wolff, grandson Connor (Brittney) Wolff, great granddaughter Beatrix; brother John (Nina) Wolff; sister Dorothy Wolff; sister-in-law Dorothy Wolff, stepsons Ron (Amie) McNiel; Michael (Renee) McNiel; stepdaughter Marie (Tom) Patrick. McNiel step grandchildren, Holly, Aaron, Alanna, Larkin (Abbi), Gavin, Talon & step great grandson Dawson Simpson; along with more family and friends; and his dog, Guard.
There will be two services. Mass 01/23 and Military honors 01/24 at the following locations and times:
