William Bowlyne (“Bo”) Fisher II, age 82 of San Antonio died at his home Saturday, April 29, 2017 after a 10-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was a native of Henning, TN and was son of the late Alan Moorer Fisher and Larue Lankford Fisher. He was a retired Episcopal priest and college professor. He had served on the Boards of Trustees of the Baylor College of Dentistry and the University of the South (Sewanee).
Bowlyne served in the US Army from 1959 to 1961 and earned several degrees: Memphis State University (B.S. 1956, M. Ed. 1971), the University of the South (M. Div. 1964), and the University of Mississippi (Ph.D. 1976). He retired from the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Dallas, TX in 1999 as Interim Rector.
He is survived by his spouse, Raul A. Perez, of San Antonio; one brother, Alan M. Fisher, Jr. of Oyrsa, TN; two sisters-in-law, Jean Fisher and Carolyn Fisher; and six nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three siblings, Betty Fisher Bagley, Jane Fisher Stephens, and John David Fisher.
Bowlyne settled in San Antonio after retiring from the priesthood, and traveled widely during retirement. A lifelong academic, he read voraciously his entire life and never lost his love of learning. He was a wonderful cook and contributed a number of recipes to a family cookbook. An amazing wit, he had an uncanny ability to evoke a smile. The primary theme of Bowlyne’s life however, was love of his family and service to others. All who knew him loved him dearly and we will miss him always.
A memorial service and interment of ashes will be conducted on Saturday June 10, 2017 at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Durhamville, TN in a graveside service. Time: 11:00am
Arrangements under the direction of NEPTUNE SOCIETY - San Antonio, San Antonio, TX.
