Wesley Allen McCaslin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 15th, at the age of 84. Born on January 24, 1940, in Broken Bow, Nebraska, he lived a full and remarkable life. Allen was known for his kind heart, his quick wit, and his unwavering love for his family and country.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Susan (Daigle) McCaslin, his son Richard (Margo) McCaslin, daughter-in-law Susan (Reinhard) McCaslin, and his cherished grandchildren, Brooke (Nick) Wolvin, Mary (William) Coleman, Libby McCaslin, Meghan McCaslin, Connor McCaslin, and Kate McCaslin. Allen was preceded in death by his son Allen Paul and grandsons Lucas and Logan McCaslin.
A proud veteran, Allen served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, including a tour in Vietnam and several overseas assignments. He took great pride in his military service and was always ready to wear his “Retired Vietnam Veteran” cap, proudly representing his years of service. His love for his country was evident in everything he did, and his commitment to duty and honor was a cornerstone of his character.
After retiring from the Air Force, Allen pursued higher education, earning a degree from Texas A&M University, Commerce in 1990. He used his knowledge and skills to build a successful career in the plastics industry, ultimately serving as head of process engineering at Abbott Laboratories, where he was respected for his expertise and dedication.
Allen’s love for life didn’t end with his career. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and walking miles each day, always finding joy in the simple pleasures. He treasured the time spent with his family and was always ready to share a quick smile, offer unsolicited advice, or give a concerned side-eye that only he could manage. His warmth and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Allen was a man of strong convictions, deep love, and unwavering loyalty. He will be remembered not only for his service to his country but for the love and wisdom he imparted to his family. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
