On her 80th birthday, July 26, 2025, Virginia Ann Vera was called home to be with our Lord. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Virginia was a woman of deep faith, unwavering love, and a heart full of joy.
She was reunited in Heaven with her beloved parents, Arturo and Carmen Ortega, her brother, Johnny Ortega, and her sister, Irma Rangel.
Virginia's greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her husband, Bruno James Vera. They celebrated 63 years of marriage on June 8, 2025. She is survived by her
children: Bruno Vera III, James Vera and his wife Annie Vera, and Jason Vera, and her treasured grandsons: Andrew Vera, Luke Vera, and Baylen Vera. She is also survived by her siblings Angelita Molina, Albert Ortega, and Liza Lujan, along with many loving nieces and nephews, and extended family members.
A devoted Catholic, Virginia found peace, joy, and strength in her faith. She was a longtime parishioner who faithfully attended weekly mass. In her later years attended daily mass. Her love for God guided her life and illuminated her love for others.
Virginia dedicated over 30 years to a fulfilling career at USAA, where she took immense pride in her work and built cherished lifelong friendships.
Throughout her life she found joy in family gatherings, beach vacations, and world travels with her husband, Bruno, especially visits to Mexico. She delighted in shopping, home cooked meals, and back yard bar-b-ques. She always looked forward to family celebrations and the colorful spirit of Fiesta.
Her warmth radiated like sunlight, touching everyone she met with kindness, grace, and a generous heart. Though she is no longer with us, Virginia's memory will forever bloom in our hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Rosary and mass to be held at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 6907 Kitchener St., San Antonio, Tx 78240 on Friday, August 8,2025, at 10am.
