It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Todd Marvin Chapmond. Todd was 63 when he endured the last day of his battle with cancer on August 21, 2025. Todd fought heroically, with dignity, honor, and courage. His devoted wife and family, by his side every moment, and he was never alone.
Todd made each person feel special, included in the conversation, and treated everyone with respect, loyalty, and kindness. He was generous, so tall, rarely smiled for photos, yet laughed constantly. His love was unconditional, strong, determined, unwavering, proud, and returned to him by all of us exactly as it was given. He wasn’t afraid to speak his mind, show his faults, forgive you yours, and make sure they ended up in a joke that would make you laugh one day. He listened, and he cared about what you said. When Todd spoke, we listened, and we cared about what he said. A look from Todd would tell you everything you needed to know without any words at all.
Not every family has a “Todd,” and we knew that every moment with ours was a gift to be treasured.
If you weren't Todd’s friend, you hadn’t met him yet; once you were his friend, you were treated like family. He had the best of friends and was admired, respected and loved by each. He thought of himself second always, was truly there for his friends, and lived, enjoying every moment.
As a loyal and trusted employee for over 35 years for H.L. Zumwalt Construction, Todd was mentored by Mr. Henry Zumwalt until Mr. Zumwalt’s passing and continued working for the company and Mrs. Zumwalt proudly through the entirety of his life. Taking calls from his hospital bed and finding joy in helping, he loved his job and his fellow coworkers. They admired, respected, and loved him dearly.
Todd Chapmond is survived by the “love of his life” and devoted wife, Marcia Ann Foster, as well as numerous children and many grandchildren who could never fit on one page what he meant to them. And his dear companion Tucca.
He touched the lives of everyone he knew, and we are better for it.
