Terrence Lee Mahan of La Grange, Texas passed away on July 20th, 2023 at the age of 74. He was born on April 22nd, 1949 in Austin, Texas and grew up in a multitude of places including Austin and Columbus, Mississippi.
Terrence graduated with Associate degrees in both Religion and Intelligence and Imagery Analysis. Terrence spent 23 years in the Air Force working in intelligence operations and support and retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. In those 23 years with the Air Force, Terrence was awarded over 20 medals for his service including the National Defense Service Medal for his service during Desert Storm and the Air Force Achievement Medal. In the spirit of committing himself to public service, Terrence spent an additional approximately 18 years working for the City of Austin in various positions after his retirement from the Air Force.
Terrence is preceded in death by his wife Deborah Ann Mahan and his mother Ella Mae Lakey.
He is survived by his children: Victoria, Michael, Deborah Mae-Jean, Francis, and Marguerite and grandchildren: Dominique, Zariah, Xavier, Yamir, Dianna, Melinda, Emmilia, and Ethan all of whom he loved to the ends of the Earth. The Mahan family would like to thank St. David’s South Austin Hospital and PAM Health Specialty for the care, compassion, and patience they showed for Terrence in his final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life service for Terrence Mahan at First Baptist Church of Bastrop, Texas on September 2nd at 10am. Everybody who knew Terrence could never doubt that he lived according to his core values. His life was spent dedicating himself to those values, and he never wavered on them through to the end of his long and fulfilled life.
Terrence’s life epitomizes the dedication to God, Family, Country.
