Sylvia LoCicero Cantu

Our loving mother, Sylvia LoCicero Cantu, age 91, of San Antonio, Texas died January 11, 2025, in her home of 57 years. Born October 27, 1933, Sylvia was one of two daughters of Stella Gaitan. She was born in San Antonio, Tx and attended Fox Tech High School where she met the love of her life; MSGT. Gerardo Cantu. Jerry and Sylvia move often, living in Colorado, New York, Montana, Oregan, and Bangkok Thailand, finally settling in their hometown here San Antonio.

After the death of Gerardo, February 1989, Sylvia married Robert Cavazos at the age of 70 in 2002. They enjoyed 20 years of marriage, living in San Marcos and San Antonio, doing what they enjoyed most, traveling, gardening and spending time with their family.

Sylvia was a loving mother who committed her life to raising her children and supporting her family. Sylvia took up employment at Ridgeview Elementary (1969), as a Teacher’s Aide at Camelot Elementary (1972) and finally as an Attendance Administrator at Robert E Lee High School (1977) until she retired from NEISD.

She had a love of cooking, traveling, gardening, dancing, and kayaking. She loved a house filled with friends and family; her door was open to all. She demonstrated her faith by her unconditional love, generosity and her commitment to raising her seven children: Gerry, David, Kenneth, Mark, Gina (Thompson), Aaron, and Lori (Acker) who are surviving family members along with her 14 grandkids and 16 great grandkids.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Rosary and Mass at” Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church” on February 14, 2025. Rosary at 11am and Mass at 11:30am. There will be a burial at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery at 1:30 pm., followed by a celebration of life at 134 Millwood Lane, San Antonio. Please join the family as we celebrate our loving mother, Sylvia Cantu, at her home one last time.
