Sue graduated from high school in McLeansboro, Ill in 1948 and graduated from the Protestant Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Evansville, Ind in 1951. She was a nurse for over 50 years. She loved nursing and worked in many settings – Operating Room, Emergency Room, Psychiatric Ward, Nursing Homes, testing for CNA certification. Her husband would jokingly and lovingly call her “my nurse from hell”; though she didn’t like him to say this. She befriended co-workers and patients alike. She loved crafting of all kinds-painting, sculptures, flower arranging, and wreath making to name only a few. She was a kind and compassionate woman who loved her family and friends. She was always willing to go above and beyond to help. She was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church where ever she lived. She made it a point to be involved with her church supporting different events and missions. Being a military wife for many years she lived in some far off places like London, Tripoli and was well traveled. She had a great love for her pets and passed this on to her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
