Stephen Glenn Blackmon, known by many as Steve, passed away the morning of January 10, 2024. Born on July 9, 1948 in Honolulu, Hawaii to a Navy family, Steve’s early years were marked by adventure. He spent the bulk of his childhood in Morocco, where he came alive as a crafty point guard on the basketball court and a sure-handed short stop in baseball. Returning to the States, he completed his high school education at Flour Bluff in Corpus Christi, Texas and played semi-professional baseball in South Texas.
Steve’s passion for education led him to pursue a bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University, followed by a master’s from Our Lady of the Lake. His dedication to education spanned more than 30 years at Judson ISD, where he made his mark as an English teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, and finally Director of Pupil Services.
Beyond sports and education, Steve enjoyed many other activities like hunting, fishing, cooking, and reading. His laughter was contagious, and his humor brought light to even the most mundane moments.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Beverley, and his son, Coby, who both quickly became the center of his world. His relationship with Beverley was one of love, mutual respect, and shared interests. His pride in Coby was unparalleled, and he left no doubt about his happiness in their time spent together.
While mourning his loss, Steve’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the family and friends that enriched his life. He experienced many health challenges, but it was thanks to you that his most memorable moments were filled with joy and laughter.
