With loving hearts, the children of Sheran “Kay” Benitez, announce her peaceful passing on April 11, 2025. She was 78 years old. She was originally from Pearl City, Hawaii and moved to Helotes, Texas in 2013.
Kay was born in the Philippines on July 26, 1946, to Florence and Morris Storer and in 1951, at the age of
five, she immigrated to the United States with her family. She attended Lincoln High School in San
Diego, CA and earnestly supported her mother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was
mindful of, and cared deeply for, her younger brother, Roger Davis.
She fell in love with Roberto Casado Benitez, Sr. and they were married on November 30, 1962. He was
proud to serve his country in the US Navy, and he was fortunate to travel throughout the Pacific for his duty stations, which included Japan, Midway Island, and the island of O’ahu, Hawaii. Once he retired, Bob and Kay chose to reside in Pearl City, the beloved place where they raised their children.
In 1981, with a warm heart and open arms, “Tita Kay” welcomed her husband’s mother, brothers, and their families as they relocated from the Philippines. She became an intrinsic part of building a multicultural and multi-generational family that remains faithfully united decades later.
Sheran enjoyed working as a supervisor for the Navy Exchange at Pearl Harbor, as well as a retail manager at the Honolulu International Airport. A cherished friend and “Mama” to many folks on the island, she will be remembered for her compassion and generosity towards others.
She was devoted to her four children; Bob, Christine, Raul, and Roland. Her sons went on to have successful military careers and her daughter worked in design and development. She was a treasured grandmother of six, and she delighted in her role as “Lola” to Bobby, Anthony, Tehya, Andrew, Austin, and Jonathan.
Much like her mother, she had a charming way about her and had an infectious sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by everyone who loved and admired her.
Kay will have private services in Helotes, TX on April 22, 2025. Funeral services will be held later this year, with her final resting place to be with her husband, “Tito” at the National Memorial of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii.
