

Shannon Malaier Farris, born on October 8, 1963, in Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home in San Antonio, Texas, on June 2, 2026.
Shannon was the daughter of Elbert Hubbard Malaier and Mildred Avonelle Pettyjohn, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, David Godinez; her half-sister, Robin; and her half-brother, Tommy. She is survived by her half-sister, Sharon, of Atlanta, Georgia.
Shannon was a devoted mother to her daughters, Kayla Godinez and Gigi Godinez. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Castulo Gonzales, Estrella Gonzales, a soon-to-be grandson expected in September 2026, and Wit Langhenry, who brought immense joy to her life.
A lifelong dog lover with a caring and compassionate spirit, Shannon had a passion for life and enjoyed the simple things that brought her happiness. Her kindness and gentle nature touched countless lives and earned her many lasting friendships. She was a devoted fan of the Texas Longhorns and could always be found cheering them on with a proud “Hook ’em Horns!” She also loved music, especially the bands Queen and The Beatles, which were among her all-time favorites.
Shannon leaves behind her loving husband, David Farris, and a family of children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends who adored her and will forever cherish the memories, laughter, and love she shared with them.
Shannon will be remembered for her loving heart, her unwavering devotion to her family, her infectious spirit, and the warmth and kindness she shared so freely with everyone around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Her ashes will be laid to rest at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
