

Ross Edward Bennett was born on August 7, 1941, in Martins Ferry, Ohio and passed away on June 24, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. Ross was born to Charles Edward Bennett and Waneta Ann Deitch Bennett. The family moved to New Orleans, Louisiana when Ross was a young boy, and that is where he graduated high school.
Ross had an illustrious career of nearly 30 years in the U.S. Air Force, starting out as an enlisted airman and later becoming a Commissioned Officer, retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 1992. Throughout his military career, he served tours in Germany (3 times), Italy (twice), and Greece, as well as numerous assignments to San Angelo, Texas. After retirement from the USAF, Ross stayed busy pursuing opportunities until he heeded the call to attend seminary, and served as an ordained minister for over a decade before retiring for good to Blue Skies of Texas in San Antonio, Texas.
Ross was also musically talented, with a voice that lent itself well to church choirs and many musical follies shows! He enjoyed playing the 4-string tenor guitar and ukulele. Ross had a wonderful sense of humor and a heart full of love and kindness for those around him.
Ross was preceded in death by both of his parents and his younger brother, Charles “Chuck” Allen Bennett. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Joan Campbell Bennett, his sister Cindy Wall, his children, Ross Bennett, Jr. and wife Tonia, Tracee Johnston and husband Jonathan, Jason Bennett and wife Jodi, and Lori Taylor, as well as several nieces and nephews.
