On Wednesday, June 2, 2021, Rosemary Smotherman nee Whitehead heard Jesus call her name and moved into heavenly places. She was preceded in death by her parents, M.E. “Ernie” and Myrtle Whitehead, stepfather, Euel Jenkins, brother, Charles T. “Tommy” Whitehead, brother-in-law, Preston “Sonny” Littrell and her beloved husband and partner in life, Jon K. “Bubba” Littrell.
Rosemary entered this world on June 20, 1939 in Tyler, Texas. She was the first of five children born to her parents. She was a warm, caring and fun-loving wife, mother, sister, Nana and friend who embodied hospitality and never met a stranger. She worked for Ernst for many years, starting as the switchboard operator, working her way to Office Manager. She was active in Executive Women International, serving as an officer at both the local and national levels.
After leaving Ernst, she worked for several organizations, ultimately joining the USAA Bank. While at USAA, she volunteered at local elementary schools reading to children and helping them read. After retiring, she rocked babies for the Northside ISD so their moms could complete their education.
She enjoyed attending the dances that Bubba played, always making friends along the way. She volunteered at CBC Northwest greeting and working in the office and children’s ministry.
She is survived by her daughter, Stacy Hollingsworth (Roger); son, Jon Littrell (Sherrell); grandchildren Trevor Lumpkin, Dustin “Dusty” (Janae) Littrell and great grandchild, Cooper Littrell. Siblings Patricia (Helrey) Larkins, M.E. “Butch” (Cher) Whitehead, Larry (Maria) Whitehead and sister-in-law Patricia Whitehead.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 10:30 am at CBC Northwest, 8118 Tezel Rd, San Antonio, TX 78250.
