He was an Air Force Veteran who served for 22 ½ years and attained the rank of CMSGT. He had a second successful career at USAA for over 20 years as Fitness and Recreation Director.
He enjoyed spending his free time woodworking, going for drives, mowing his lawn, and cuddling with his dog, Annie. He was a faithful member of St. Mark Presbyterian Church, and he loved God, Family, and Country.
Ron is predeceased by his parents, Viola and Marvin; his sister, Joan Knipe; brother, Fred Willard; son-in-law, Oscar Mendoza; and great grandson, Nathanael Ezzo.
Ron is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Mendoza, Teresa (Kenny) Kidder, Leslie (Sal) Alfieri; their mother, Martha Clinton; his son, Chris Gonzales; along with 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Deanna Lehrbass; brothers, Marvin (Shigeko) Willard and Dean Willard; aunt, Lee Beaver; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service to honor Ron will take place on July 24th, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 208 W. Bandera Rd. Boerne, TX 78006. A reception will follow the service.
An interment service will be held on Monday, July 24th at 2:30pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209. Those in attendance are asked to arrive at Committal Shelter 3.
