Ron was born in Iuka, Kansas on January 8, l946 and passed away in San Antonio, Texas on March 16, 2017. His family moved from Iuka to Shawnee, Kansas when he was two years old. Shawnee is a suburb of Kansas City. That is where he met his wife, Sherry and they married in December, l972. He graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in l964. He is preceded by his father, Clarence Honeman, and his mother, Mary Honeman. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Honeman of San Antonio, and his daughter, Christine Honeman, who lives in Conifer, Colorado.
Ron worked in the finance business and was employed by USAA Bank from which he retired after 15 years. He loved participating in sports and played volleyball and softball for church leagues and work leagues. His current sporting pursuit was playing chair volleyball at his senior center. He and Sherry also played pool for a team in the APA league. They didn’t begin to play pool competitively until their sixties, but loved it a lot. He and Sherry loved to camp over the years and enjoyed many trips around the U.S. Their big love now was for Nascar races and finally got to see one live in Ft. Worth, Texas last fall. Ron loved his Church and participated in many ways to help others. He made several mission trips to Guatemala and Mexico and had helped with the Refugee Ministry, and helped create the library for the Achiever’s Center for Education.
Services will be at University United Methodist Church, located at 5084 DeZavala in San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 10:30 am
