Robert was born January 14, 1932, in Ambresin, Belgium to the late Xavier Louis and Aline Dedobeleer. He had three siblings, two sisters, Suzanne and Alice that preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Adelaida (Taty), her daughter, Laly, Peter and two grandchildren, Layla, and Manny. In Belgium, he is survived by his daughter Beatrice and her two sons, Julien, and Gilles and her three grandchildren, Gaspard, Capuccine and Robin. Also, by Robert’s brother Andre and his nephew, Michel and wife, Francoise.
Robert was a very talented Computer and Information Systems Manager, analyst, software developer of manufacturing processes at Glaxo SmithKline Pharmaceuticals Worldwide and then as a consultant for many other pharmaceutical companies. He worked with the very early main frame computers and the latest computers on the market until we retired in 1999.
During his long life, Robert had many hobbies of which I am going to name a few.
Since Robert turned 40, he learned downhill skiing in the Alps, and he taught his daughters Beatrice and Laly. He took winter vacations every year just to go skiing until winter 2011 when he was 79 years old.
He was an excellent watercolor artist and some of his paintings are exhibited in our house, and many have been distributed amongst family and friends through the years.
Robert was an excellent photographer professional, although he never charged for his work. He was the official photographer of the Latino Community and St. Regis Parish in Pittsburgh from 2006 until 2012.
In addition, Robert loved music. In his youth, he played the accordion and had a band in Dinant, Belgium playing in village festivals and dances. Later, he learned to play the organ and played with our friends at many parties. Robert was also a great dancer of world and Latin music.
Traveling was another of his favorite pastimes, especially in Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, and the Caribbean which we visited numerous times by land, plane, or cruise. He organized and planned for months each of our trips to the last detail to assure a great vacation.
As you are reading this, you can tell Robert lived a full life and was the driving force in our marriage. I will always appreciate his readiness to pack and move every three years just to be close to our grand kids. We will keep celebrating his life for a long time as there are many good memories to share with family and friends in the many places we have lived.
Robert, we hold you close within our hearts, and there you shall remain, to walk with us throughout our lives, until we meet again.
Taty Louis,
