Bob was born on June 22, 1955 in Baldwin, MS to parents Robert and Emogene Gibson. He served as a Captain in the US Army until 1988. He graduated from University of Southern California with a Master of Science and Systems Management and a Master of Business Administration from Webster University. Bob also achieved a Master degree in Science and Information Technology from Capella University. He married Melinda “Mindy” Tyner in 1983. He began working at Eli Lilly in Indianapolis in 1988, working his way up to be the International Privacy Officer when he retired in 2014. In March of 2017, he started working at H-E-B in San Antonio as a Chief Privacy Officer.
Bob was truly one of a kind. He was an incredible husband and father to his family. His love for God and generous heart made him stand out amongst others. Bob was blessed with the gift of teaching and co-led a home bible study in the Del Webb Community. He knew no stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Bob was incredibly driven and had a work ethic that pushed him to excel at everything he did. He was a wonderful mentor and guide, always knowing what to say and when to say it. Intelligent, funny, and dependable - these are just a few attributes that portray the kind of man he was. There are no words to describe how deeply he will be missed.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mindy, his daughters, Meghan (Justin) Hutson, Meredith Gibson, and Stacey (Brent) Vickers, and sons, Bryce (Rich) Gibson and Mark Gibson, his parents, and a sister, Janet Bristow. He is preceded in death by a sister, Judy Barnes.
Bob’s life will be celebrated in a memorial service on December 21, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Hills Church Alamo Ranch Campus. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bob’s life.
