Robert "Cowboy" Glen Collins Jr.

“Cowboy” Robert Glen Collins Jr of New Braunfels, Tx went home to his Heavenly Father on January 27th 2025 at the age of fifty three after a brave eight month battle with gliablastoma. He was born on June 23, 1971 in San Antonio to Robert Glen Collins Sr and Kathryn Lee (Hubbard) Collins.

Cowboy graduated from East Central High School in 1989, and then went on to join the Air Force reserves where he was a load master on C-5 aircrafts at Lackland Air Force Base. He was a proud veteran who served his country for 13 years.

He later went on to receive his RN from Baptist School of Nursing in 2000, and a Bachelor of Nursing from UT Arlington in 2013.

Throughout his 24 year career as an ER nurse, he had a passion for building relationships with his patients and coworkers. Cowboy was well known at the hospitals he worked at for his humor, compassion and leadership.

Cowboy never met a stranger and had many stories to tell for anyone who would listen. One of his favorite subjects was talking about his faith and the impact God had on his life.

His latest hobbies included woodworking where he loved creating or refurbishing many one of a kind items for others.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Jennifer Diane Collins and their three children whom he was incredibly proud of: son Landon Joseph Collins and his wife Grace(Zello), daughter Mary Kathryn “Katie” Southers and her husband Jackson Southers, and son Mason Zane Collins, along with his beloved cat Gus. Parents Robert Glen Sr. and Kathy Collins, as well as his brother Rowdy Lee Collins(Dorcas Branecky).

Nieces Emily Schlabs(Darren), Cassidy Raney, Kylee Collins, Dailyn Collins and nephew Luke Raney. Great niece Chandler Raney-Hanna, sister in law Terri Raney, mother and father in law Ronald and Mary Finkel, as well as many cousins and aunts and uncles.

The Collins family would like to thank all their family, friends, church and Cowboy’s co-workers for the care and compassion they showed him in his final days. He was truly one of a kind, and he will be greatly missed by all.
