He was born in Fargo, North Dakota January 16, 1931 to Alfred Brolling and Eleanor Fietsam. He attended Moorhead State Teachers College following high school and received a BA degree in 1951. He then attended the University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry and graduated with a DDS and BS degree. Bob then entered the US Air Force in 1955 for a two year tour-of-duty. In 1957, after leaving the Air Force, he became an associate in an established dental practice in St. Paul, MN. He then re-entered the Air Force and was assigned to the School of Aerospace Medicine, Brooks AFB, TX. After 3 years he applied and was accepted by the Airforce for graduate study where he returned to the University of MN and received a MS degree in Restorative Dentistry in 1964. After 20 years of service, he retired from the Air Force in 1977 and practiced the specialty of crown and bridge in private practice for 3 years and then was offered an Associate Professorship in the crown and bridge department at the University of Texas Health Science Center, School of Dentistry at San Antonio. He remained there until retiring in 1995.
In 1988 Bob met the love of his life and married Patsy Homire Brolling. They enjoyed all aspects of life.
Bob’s hobbies included fishing, flying model airplanes, working in his yard, watching football eating chocolate chip cookies and playing with his dog-Skeeter.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Alfred Brolling and Eleanor Fietsam Brolling, his sister, Jane Van Hoven.
He is survived by his wonderful and loving wife Patsy, daughter, Leah(Jerry) Shiely, niece, Nancy Van Hoven, step daughter, Michelle (Antonio) Loredo, step son, Michael (Micki) Zika, 7 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, on October 28, 2022 at 1:15.
The family would like to recognize the wonderful neighbors that helped Bob out in his final few years.
