Rich, as he was known to friends and family, was born on July 2, 1974 to Alice and Cornelius Hager in Brooklyn, New York. Although he moved to Texas shortly after his first birthday, he carried love and pride for New York throughout his remaining years.
He attended Thomas Jefferson High School, where he met lifelong friends that eventually became family. He graduated in 1992 and continued his education at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Richard shared his avid love of sports with the youth of San Antonio as a Program Director for the Boys and Girls Club. He stayed true to his hometown teams, the New York Yankees and Brooklyn Nets, but was also a loyal fan of San Antonio Spurs and San Francisco 49ers.
In 2006, Richard married Veronica Arcos Hager. They were blessed with a daughter, Amber Nicole Hager. Amber was his world, and every breath he took was for his daughter. They shared a love for Star Wars and Marvel movies, making special father-daughter movie dates for any and every
opening night for Marvel movies. Amber, your daddy loves you 3000.
Richard was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Elvira Taylor; uncle Edward Taylor; aunt Eileen Chesher and paternal grandmother, Theresa Hager. He is survived by his parents Cornelius and Alice Hager; his girlfriend Raquel Casanova, with whom he recently reconnected; his wife Veronica Hager; daughter Amber Hager; brother Kenneth Hager and sister in law Alicia Hager, and countless family members and friends that meant the world to him. His love knew no limits.
