He was born in San Antonio, TX in 1946 to Elizabeth J. and Rene W. Perez, Sr. He attended 8 different Catholic schools between San Antonio, TX and Spokane, WA. The final school he attended was Central Catholic High School where he graduated in the Class of 1964. He joined the Navy in 1966 serving during the Vietnam War on board the USS Tripoli and the USS El Dorado until receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1970. He obtained his Associates Degree in Home Building and spent the next several decades working in construction finally retiring from his job as a civil engineering technician at Randolph AFB.
Hank will always be remembered for being a loyal friend to so many people from high school friends, to Navy buddies to former neighbors and coworkers and also the way he loved kids. He loved his son and daughter, their friends, his nieces, nephews and especially his granddaughters.
Hank was preceded in death by his father Rene, Sr and his mom Elizabeth, and is survived by his wife Carmen, son Mark (Jenny) , daughter Denise, sister Beth, brothers Frank and Larry, and his granddaughters, Elena and Sarah.
A service with military honors is Monday, October 23, 2023 at 10:15AM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Habitat for Humanity or a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
