Ramon Ramos

Ramon Ramos passed away, Friday, June 9, 2017.

Ramon was born November 12, 1950 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Pedro and Cristina Ramos. He joined the Army in 1972, training in the field of nursing. Having served honorably in the Gulf War, he retired as a Sergeant First Class from active duty in San Antonio, Texas in 1993. He continued to work as a Registered Nurse at Brooke Army Medical Center in the Bone Marrow

Transplant Unit until retiring from that in 2014.

All who met who Ramon were greeted with a big heart, big voice and big handshake. He was passionate about cooking the foods of his beloved Puerto Rico, and was always ready to feed anyone who stopped by. He also loved working in his garden of roses and fruit plants, always having a bag of fruits or vegetables ready for you to take home. Ramon loved woodworking, building multiple projects for his children and grandchildren. He was a world traveler, having enjoyed trips throughout Europe and the Americas. His love of salsa music was also well known.

His desire to help others was evident in his nearly 40 years in the field of nursing. More than willing to help in any way he could, from teaching his children how to cook to mentoring fellow nurses to working on projects of all sorts, Ramon was always willing to offer his services. And, if all else fails, everyone would get an “It’s OK, It’s OK” from him.

Ramon is survived by his wife Beatriz; daughters Leslie Dotson; Jessica Ramos; Patricia Childress; son Raymond Ramos; stepdaughter Vannesa Yzaguirre; and stepson Carlos Yzaguirre. Grandchildren Rafael (Bebo); Alex; Isaac (Zachy); Triniti; Aaliyah; Xavier; and Andrea. He is also survived by many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ramon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all.

A celebration of his life service will be held Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Piedras Preciosas del Reino located at 10208 Culebra Road, San Antonio, Texas 78251 from 6 P.M. to 9 P.M. with a prayer at 7 P.M.

Any well wishes or condolences can be sent to 6 Laden Creek, San Antonio, TX 78238 and will be displayed at his memorial.

Military Funeral Honor Ceremony will be held Monday, June 26, 2017 at 10:45 A.M. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road; San Antonio, Texas 78209.

Ramón Ramos falleció el Viernes 9 de junio de 2017.

Ramón nació el 12 de noviembre de 1950 en Ponce, Puerto Rico a Pedro y Cristina Ramos. Se incorporó al Ejército en 1972, formándose en el campo de la enfermería. Después de haber servido honrosamente en la Guerra del Golfo, se retiró como sargento de primera clase de servicio activo en San Antonio, Texas en 1993. Continuó trabajando como enfermero registrado en el Centro Médico del Ejército de Brooke en la Unidad de Trasplante de Médula Ósea hasta retirarse en el 2014.

Ramon tenia un gran Corazon y siempre te recibia con un gran abrazo y apreton de manos. Él era un apasionado de cocinar los alimentos de su amado Puerto Rico y siempre estaba listo para alimentar a cualquier persona que pasara por su casa o trabajo. También le encantaba trabajar en su jardín de rosas y plantas frutales, siempre teniendo una bolsa de frutas o verduras listos para quien lo visitara. A Ramón le gustaba trabajar con madera y construyo múltiples proyectos para sus hijos y nietos. Era un viajero del mundo habiendo disfrutado de viajes por toda Europa y las Américas. Su amor por la musica Salsa era también muy conocido.

Su deseo de ayudar a otros fue evidente en sus casi 40 años en el campo de la enfermería, siempre dispuesto a ayudar de cualquier manera que pudiera, desde ser mentor de sus companeros de trabajo o ayudar sus hijos con la cocina y cualquier proyecto que se encontrara de frente. Ramón siempre estaba dispuesto a ofrecer sus servicios y si alguien fallaba en su trabajo todo el mundo obtendría un "is ok, is ok" de parte de él.

Ramón es sobrevivido por su esposa Beatriz, hijas Leslie Dotson, Jessica Ramos, Patricia Childress, hijo Raymond Ramos, hijastra Vannesa Yzaguirre y hijastro Carlos Yzaguirre. Nietos Rafael (Bebo), Alex, Isaac (Zachy); Triniti; Aaliyah; Xavier; Y Andrea. También le sobreviven sus hermanos,sobrinos,otros parientes y amigos. Ramón era un amoroso esposo, padre, abuelo y amigo de todos.

El servicio en celebracion de su vida se llevará a cabo el jueves 22 de junio de 2017 en Piedras Preciosas del Reino ubicado en 10208 Culebra Road, San Antonio, Texas 78251 de 6 P.M. A las 9 pm Con una oración a las 7 pm.

Cualquier deseo o condolencia de bien puede ser enviado a 6 Laden Creek, San Antonio, TX 78238 y será exhibido en su memorial.

La Ceremonia de Honor de Funeral Militar se llevará a cabo el lunes, 26 de junio de 2017 a las 10:45 am. En el cementerio nacional de Fort Sam Houston situado en 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road; San Antonio, Texas 78209.
