While attending Texas Women’s University she met and married a Methodist Minister, Barrett Renfro with whom she accompanied while he served as pastor in many Methodist Churches throughout Texas for 24 years, including as youth minister for Laurel Heights Methodist Church. Rachel and Barrett had two daughters, Shirlyn and Amyanne who were an active part of the Laurel Heights Church family during this period.
While Barrett was serving in McAllen, Texas, Rachel completed her graduate degree in Speech/Language Pathology. Upon return to San Antonio, she worked at the Harry Jersig Speech-Language Hearing Center and Villa Rosa Medical Center. She later established a private practice where she diligently served many patients.
On February 12, 1983, Rachel married Dallas T. Lesley, a retired United States Navy Submarine Veteran, a highly valued member of a large HVAC business and a very popular HVAC teacher at St. Phillips College, The Bastrop Federal Correctional Institution, Everest Institute and Southern Careers Institute. At the time of Rachel’s death, she and Dallas had been married for 43 years.
Preceding Rachel in death was her daughter, Amyanne, her parents, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends, including her first husband, Barrett. Rachel is survived by her siblings, Linda Worfe Woods (Terry Woods) and Thomas Boyce Pozniak (Douglas Christensen). A special thanks is extended to all who gave her support throughout and especially to Dallas and to her daughter Shirlyn, who did so much as a caregiver during her later years.
