Petra Patricia Archer, affectionately known as Pety, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25th, at the age of 96. She was born on June 2nd, 1928, in Monterrey, Mexico, where she grew up surrounded by love as one of ten brothers and sisters.
From a young age, Petra Patricia embodied resilience, determination, and an unwavering dedication to family. She carried these values with her throughout her life, nurturing deep connections and leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hugh S. Archer, Jr.; her parents, Tomas Aparicio Gamez and Ignacia Aguilar Gamez; and her siblings Heriberto, Juan, Aurora, Amalia, Celia, Alicia, and Manuel.
She is survived by her daughters, Violeta Archer and Aurora Archer; her son-in-law, Colin Lacey; her cherished grandchildren, Mila and Liam Lacey; and her siblings Tomas Gamez and Dora Gamez de Zuniga.
Petra Patricia had a lifelong appreciation for gardening, cooking, and traveling – particularly to Europe, with Italy holding a special place in her heart. She found joy in caring for her grandchildren preparing delicious meals for them well into their teenage years.
A special mass in her honor will be held in Monterrey, Mexico at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the National Butterfly Center, a place that reflects her love for nature and the beauty she appreciated in the world.
Her legacy of love, strength, and grace will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
