Peter R. Hermann of Boerne, Texas entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the age of 74 following a short illness. He was born on March 24, 1950, in New Britain, CT, where he grew up, until moving to Burlington with his wife, Jackie, in 1972 where they built their first home and started their family. His career took him to Skillman, NJ and Leawood, KS, before he retired to Venice, FL in 2016. In 2022, he and Jackie relocated to Boerne, TX to be close to family.
Peter attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School, St Paul’s Junior High and St. Thomas Aquinas High School, all in New Britain, where he met the love of his life, Jackie Sirois, graduating with his diploma in 1968. Peter continued his education at the University of Hartford where he joined the soccer team until he completed a BS in Marketing in 1972 followed by an MBA in 1975. He attended the Dale Carnegie Institute and became a Certified Association Executive (CAE).
Peter began his career at The Connecticut Bank and Trust Company in 1972. Subsequently, he joined The Savings Banks Association in 1974 as the Marketing Director until 1987 when he decided to further his education and career in Association Management at the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) outside Princeton, NJ. During his 10+ years at CFMA, he transformed the fledgling organization into the premier society for construction financial professionals. He continued with CFMA as Executive Director until 1997 when he assumed the role of CEO of ARMA International in Kansas City for the next 20 years. His time at CFMA and ARMA took him around the world, where he developed many strong friendships with international colleagues.
Peter spent his spare time pursuing his passions. His love of the saxophone and lifelong treasure of music prompted his membership in the Blues and Jazz Society, he was an active member of the St. Charles Borromeo Parish Council and leader in Boy Scout Troop 46 in New Jersey, where he mentored many young men and two sons to the rank of Eagle Scout. Peter also volunteered for the Airedale Terrier Rescue and Adoption non-profit, reflecting his love of Airedale Terriers, and was a Friend of Bill for 34 years. He particularly enjoyed travel, skiing, the ocean and fine dining, but most importantly, he had amazing love and pride for his family and their amazing accomplishments. Late in his work career and in retirement, his seven grandchildren became his greatest pride and joy!
Peter was preceded in death by his parents Charles Hermann and Agnes Talbot Hermann, his dear Aunt Frances and Uncle Phil Burns, who were like his second parents, along with dear friends, Gale Ryde, Bill Crawford and Kerwin Spencer, and his brothers-in-law Robert Sirois and Scott Parrish.
