Patricia S. Harte “Pat” passed away on March 7, 2025 at the age of 80 in Kerrville, Texas. Pat was born November 9, 1944 to Robert Halsey Smith and Eileen Elizabeth Murphy Smith in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
She graduated from Portsmouth High School, Keene State College with BA in Sociology, University of Connecticut MA in Sociology and Hawthorn College BS in Accounting. Pat lived in Portsmouth NH, Storrs CT, Keene NH and Scottsdale, AZ before moving to Kerrville in 2006.
Pat had been an accountant, real estate agent and an elementary school teacher. She was a woman of great integrity and strength in her faith, which helped her in life’s journey.
Pat was a loving daughter and mother. She became her son’s caregiver when he was injured by a drunk driver as a teenager. She diligently researched cures for spinal cord injuries. Her son, Neil A. Harte, predeceased her in 2005 at the age of 41.
At one point Pat decided to hike the Grand Canyon and took on a training schedule to get in shape. She did hike the Grand Canyon and took a weeklong raft trip down the Colorado.
She was a great shopper and could find all the sales at Dillards and Macys. She was always stylishly dressed. The Tempe Arts Festival was a favorite of hers every year. She loved living in Kerrville, Texas.
She joined the First United Methodist Church, attended Sunday school and Emmaus. She took classes in bridge and mahjong, and took up rummicub. Pat played these games with other women in the area until Covid. After Covid she resumed playing rummicub with 3 neighbors until April 2024.
After moving to Kerrville she went on a cruise to Mexico, traveled to Las Vegas, Seattle, WA and Colorado with friends. Her favorite trips were traveling around the Hill Country of Texas, stopping at all the shops and diners. She was ill in her last years and had she been healthy would have been thankful for the love and care of friends and family.
Survivors are cousins Brian Murphy and Rebecca Murphy of New Hampshire, Kathy Moulder of Kentucky and Carol Incledon of New York and her friend Kathy Erin of Phoenix.
Besides her parents and son, Pat was predeceased by her close cousin Maureen Frye of New Hampshire in 2003. Pat requested no services.
