

Mrs. Olga Irma Vukelja de Caballero, 84 of Schertz, TX went home to be with Our Lord on Saturday, January 17, 2026. She was born on October 30, 1941, in Panama City, Panama. She was raised in the coastal town of Puerto Armuelles, where her father worked for the United Fruit Company (now Chiquita Brands International).
She went to college in the United States and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Sacred Heart Dominican College in Houston, Texas. After graduation in January 1964, she got married to Patricio Caballero on July 7, 1964, and devoted her life to her husband and raising three children in Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Caballero was a devoted follower of Christ and longstanding member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wimberley, TX, before moving to Schertz in 2019 to be closer to family. Thereafter, she was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma, TX. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially attending all of the grandchildren’s sporting events, ceremonies, and graduations. She loved sharing meals and baked goods with her neighbors, sipping on a glass of refreshing lemonade, spending afternoons on the phone with her lifelong friends, reading novels, watching Hallmark movies and feel- good shows like “Everybody Loves Raymond”, and keeping up with current events. She enjoyed playing bingo and participating in other events at the Schertz Area Senior Center with her loving caregiver and friend, Linda Coronado. Olga especially enjoyed her regular visits to Panama to spend time with her family at her mom’s farm in Boquete, Panama.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jovan Vukelja, Sr., her mother Olga Matthews de Vukelja who recently departed January 18, 2026, and her brother Jovan Vukelja, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Patricio Caballero of Schertz, TX, son David Caballero of Houston, TX, daughters Sandra Richie of Schertz, TX, and Cristina Caballero of Richmond, TX, her brother Nicolas Vukelja (Patricia Duque de Vukelja) in Panama City, Panama, her sister Amalia Vukelja, in Boquete, Panama, and sister-in-law Yolanda Vukelja of Panama City, Panama. Her surviving grandchildren include: Cortlyn Parker, Travis Richie, Kyle Richie, Kendall Robison, Brooke Robison, Austin Richie, and Jayden Caballero.
The family would like to thank her caregiver, Linda Coronado, and everyone at the Timberwood Assisted Living for all of the love and compassion they showed our beloved Olga in her final days. The family would also like to thank their dear friend Kay Duc who lovingly came weekly to bring Olga and Patricio Holy Communion once they became homebound.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Rosary ceremony at 10:30 am followed by the Funeral service at 11:00 am on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 16075 N Evans Rd, Selma, TX 78154.
The private interment is Monday, February 9, 2026, at 11:15 am at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX 78209.
