It is with great sadness that the family of Murray Edward Malakoff, known to family, friends and colleagues as Butch, announces his peaceful passing, on Tuesday, September 18,2018, at the age of 65 years.
Butch was born in Laredo,TX to Dr. M. E. and Frances Malakoff, who preceded him in death. He is survived and will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend, Sylvia V. Malakoff, children Morris Esak (Kimberly) and Daniela Ynes (Derek) Freeman, his step-children Pedro Ramon (Bridget) Ochoa, Sylvia Grace (Christian) Orduña, and Lanette (Marcos) Garza, 10 grandchildren, one of the youngest "El Colorado", as affectionately nicknamed by his grandfather, and siblings Mary Louise Malakoff (deceased), Dr. A. F. (Pancho) Malakoff, and Rosellin (Steve) Maddox.
Butch graduated from Texas Southern University in Houston, licensed to practice law in Texas in 1978. He was a certified TX Board of Legal Specialization Labor & Employment Attorney, who proudly represented the underdog, with zeal and conviction. He worked with Justice Patricia O. Alvarez at Alvarez & Norton in Laredo from 1998 to 2001. He also served the City of Rio Bravo, TX as City Attorney under former Mayor Francisco L. Pena, MD. His dedication to his career took him on a journey that led to 40 years of different levels of his practice, from representing clients in local courts and in the Supreme Court, to traveling to Hawaii for his most recent case.
