On June of 1946, Harold and Ingrid of San Francisco, CA welcomed their bundle of joy, Michael, into the world. He was his mother’s pride and joy with his blonde curls, and blue eyes. He became a student athlete at Mt. Diablo High School where he competed in swimming and wrestling. He graduated from San Jose State University and served in the United States Air Force. The skills he learned lead him to a career working with Department of Defense contractors, retiring from Lockheed Martin in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
As an adult his love for swimming never wavered. He swam and competed with the Colorado Springs masters swim team. He was an aficionado of all sports and loved watching everything from golf to football to NASCAR. He was also a fan of Jeopardy and Family Feud, and you could catch him singing and dancing along to his favorite classic rock songs as he sat in his favorite spot on the couch. He was the master of idioms which he learned from his father, “For crying out loud Pete’s sake!” and used them frequently. All part of his funny and charming personality.
His biggest passion was his family. He was the most loving husband, father and papa, and the biggest supporter to all who remain. Margarita (Margaret), his wife of 51 years, whom he served breakfast in bed for more than 4 decades; his two daughters: Dr. Pamela Escobedo, and Melissa Flores, son-in-law Victor and two beautiful granddaughters. Thank heaven for little girls, Olivia (6) and Ava (2).
He is also survived by two brothers, Timothy (Sandee)of Volcano, California, and Dennis (Chris) of Davis, California, numerous nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers in law, cousins and friends.
Michael will be remembered for his compassion, kindness, loving heart and his big smile. He volunteered with many organizations: SOS Food Bank, USAA Golden Eagles, serving wounded warriors at their annual BBQ, helping decorate Army Fisher Houses for Christmas and Meals on Wheels, where he enjoyed delivering meals and visiting with seniors. He was generous with his time and talents; ready to help if he could as he was a jack of all trades. He will be missed dearly by all who loved him.
Services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 1:30pm at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Braunfels, TX. Interment will be held at a later date at St. Mary’s Cathedral Columbarium in Colorado Springs, CO.
