She attended Las Angeles Southwest College where she received an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and began her career in education. Mary continued her higher education pursuit graduating in 2005 from National University at San Diego California with a B.A. Degree in Psychology, and a minor in Criminal Justice Administration.
Mary worked in the education field for 32 plus years in private and public school districts. After leaving the field she entered the Healthcare vocation working as an in-home care assistant.
Mary enjoyed social activities. She volunteered for 10 years for the UNCF as a telephone operator and also made monetary donations. She also volunteered for the Jerry Lewis MD Labor Day Telethon as a phone operator.
After moving back to San Antonio, she joined St. John Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, a greeter, and attended Sunday school. She really enjoyed the fellowship with her sisters in the Women’s Ministry. Mary believed in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, it was he who she released her burdens to. She prayed daily to let go of stress and strains and willfully kept her faith moving forward with an unhurried and unworried mind.
Mary’s hobbies included walking two to four times per week. She enjoyed listening to jazz and classical music, plus R&B soul music, because she loved to dance. She participated in Ballroom dancing in Las Angeles, and enjoyed good drama, romantic, and a few old western movies. She loved Broadway plays and enjoyed watching the WNBA Las Angeles Sparks, plus the NBA and NFL games.
