Lynda Northam Echiverri

January 26, 1940 – July 19, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lynda Northam Echiverri, who departed from this life on July 19, 2026, at the age of 86.

Born on January 26, 1940, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, Lynda was a charismatic woman who took great pride in her Irish heritage, loving all things green. Lynda welcomed everyone into her family with an open heart and without prejudice, leaving behind a legacy as vibrant, generous, and joyful as the life she lived.

Lynda was the daughter of Ralph Virginius Northam and Dorothy Tracy Northam. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Alfredo "Fred" Valenzuela Echiverri; her sister, Mary Ann Ellis; and her brother, Stephen Northam.

She is survived by her devoted children: Tracy and her husband Charlie Biltz, Cristina and her husband Michael Cimarusti, Annie Wasserman, Lucy Echiverri, and Freddy and his wife Sharon Echiverri. She also leaves behind nine adoring grandchildren: Stuart and his wife Jamie, Alexander, Maxwell, Isabella, Dante, Madison, Madilyn, Alfredo, and Christopher and his wife Rebecca; two precious great-grandchildren, Henry and Hazel; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Lynda and Fred's love story began in the operating room when he was a surgical resident, and she was a student nurse. Their bond flourished, they got engaged during Christmas, and married on February 24, 1962. They built their home in Paris, Kentucky, where they raised their five children, formed lifelong friendships, and created a warm, close-knit home that welcomed family, friends, and neighbors alike. Lynda was the life of the party always ready to celebrate life with her Magnolias, her large extended family, and friends that she considered family.

Lynda’s faith was central to her life attending mass no matter where she lived or traveled. Lynda was always active in the various communities in which she lived. Whether serving as President of the Lioness Club in Paris, Kentucky, creating floral arrangements for the Bourbon County Garden Club, organizing galas at the Stoner Creek Country Club, or singing in the St. Anthony de Pauda choir she cultivated friendships that would sustain her throughout her life.

Lynda's love was especially evident in her advocacy for her daughter, Lucy. When no school existed to serve children with disabilities in her community, Lynda was a founding board member of the Meteer School which was dedicated to providing childcare, education, and support for special needs children and low-income families. Her vision, determination and compassion created opportunities not only for Lucy, but for countless other children and families of Bourbon County.

A proud Hoosier, Lynda graduated from Jeffersonville High School before continuing her education at Catherine Spalding College in Louisville and the University of Kentucky, where she pursued her passion for theater arts. Although she worked alongside her husband in his medical practice, her greatest calling was caring for her family, whom she nurtured with love, devotion, and an insistence that all of her children live their lives to the fullest.

Once grandchildren entered her life, Lynda moved to San Antonio, Texas. Lynda, or “Lola” as she was known to grandchildren and countless others, was a person who marched to a rhythm that was uniquely her own. She was caring and thoughtful, known for consistently checking in to tell others that she missed them, while also being unafraid to provide her honest feedback when she felt it was required. Lola’s car was known to be the car of choice for loud Michael Jackson music and no room’s décor was finalized until it had won her stamp of approval. Lola was many things to many different people but to anyone who knew her, she was above all else, welcoming, to any and all that found their way to her door. Lola was always ready to welcome guests with a store-bought cookie, a bucket of fried chicken, and heartfelt conversation that made everyone feel at home.

Her spirit will be greatly missed and will be carried on by those who loved and learned from her journey.

A rosary will be said at 11:00 am on Friday August 7, 2026 with a Mass celebrating Lynda's life at 11:30 am at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 102 Lorenz Road, San Antonio, Texas 78209. A livestream for the Mass will be available online at the church’s website.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church or Talarico for Texas.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Concho Hearts Hospice for the compassionate care they provided during Lynda's final days. Her legacy of faith, love, resilience, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
