4/18/1945 - 1/29/2018
On January 29th, 2018, Larry Tracy Wimberley passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter holding each of his hands. Larry was born in Forest City Arkansas April 18th, 1945 to L.T and Christine Wimberley. seven years later he moved to Caruthersville, MO where he grew up and graduated from Caruthersville High School. In high school he excelled in all sports. He played basketball, football, and ran track. He also worked and did whatever he could to help his mom, brothers, and sister. Larry joined the Air Force at age 19. While in the service he met his wife, of 42 years, Denise Kay Lawrence. Larry and Denise were married on July 1, 1976. Larry was an avid golfer and loved the outdoors. He loved sports and was a die hard St. Louis Cardinals fan. Larry retired active duty after 21 years of service. As a retirement present, Larry and Denise had their only child, daughter Jacqueline Traci Wimberley. Traci was born September 24th, 1985. From that day forward Larry's life was for his daughter. When she started school he returned to the Air Force to work in Civil Service for another 13 years. He then retired again, and spent the next few years as the designated swim dad not only for his daughter but also several other friends. Larry had countless friends all over that knew him as the loud, strong willed, stubborn, teddy bear that he was. He would do anything and everything for anyone who needed it. Larry got to walk his daughter, Traci, down the aisle when she married Christopher Meyer on November 7th, 2015. After Denise retired they spend his last few years enjoying San Antonio. They ran around shopping, eating at all his favorite restaurants, and watching and yelling about sports. If ever there was a life well lived, it was his. Larry is preceded in death by his mother Christine Wimberley, his father L.T Wimberley, his brother Kenny Wimberley, and his sister-in-law Helen Wimberley. He is survived by his wife Denise Kay Wimberley, daughter Jacqueline Traci Meyer and her husband Chris, brother Ronnie Wimberley, brother Donald Wimberley, sister Beverly Cunningham and her husband Johnny, several nieces, nephew, and great nieces and nephews. Any and all condolences can be sent to the family.
"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.
T'was Grace that taught...
my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear...
the hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares...
we have already come.
T'was Grace that brought us safe thus far...
and Grace will lead us home.
The Lord has promised good to me...
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be...
as long as life endures.
When we've been here ten thousand years...
bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise...
then when we've first begun.
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see."
