Larry Doyle Jenkins passed away on September 10, 2024, at his home in Pipe Creek, Texas. He was born May 10, 1950, in Lubbock, Texas to Myron and Maxine Jenkins. He was the youngest of 6 children. Larry grew up on a small farm just outside Lubbock. After graduating from high school, he joined the Navy and served 4 years in the Western Pacific including a tour in Vietnam. After returning home in joined the Lubbock Police Department where he served for 8 years. He then moved on to work in the oil fields in the Texas Panhandle as a “gang- foreman” for the next 15 years.
Later he conducted a career change and attained his Registered Nurse (RN) degree. Then for the next 20 years he used his expertise working medical and surgical ICU, traveled to administer peritoneal dialysis, physical rehabilitation and Interventional Radiology. Time away from busy work schedule, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. We will miss our Larry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Maxine, and his sisters Wilma Jo and Betty.
Larry is survived by his wife, Ramona, stepsons, Jason and Benjamin; daughter, Courtney; grandchildren, Jonas, Asa and Grayson; sisters Gwyn, Glenda and brother Darrel.
A graveside service will be on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 1:15 pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
Lieutenant Commander Kristian Carlson, Chaplain of United States Navy will be officiating.
