Kenneth was active in his church as Bible study leader, deacon, friend to all, and encourager to many.
Kenneth’s greatest loves were Jesus, his Lord, and Ruth Marie, his bride of 57 years. They served their church and those in their care as leaders in their Sunday school class. Kenneth’s other great loves were his son, and daughter in-law and being “Poppy” to his granddaughter.
Kenneth is survived by:
His wife, Ruth Marie Bishop, of Bulverde, Texas.
His son and daughter-in-law, Phillip Wesley, and Jenny Jones and their daughter, Julia of Plano, Texas
His sister and brother in-law, Loretta and Ron Robertson of Louisville, Kentucky.
His sister-in-law, Barbara Nelms of Franklin, Texas.
Nephews, nieces, and cousins in Texas, Kentucky, and Ohio – fondly referred to him as “Uncle Kenny,” or most notable, was “Butch,” or “Uncle Butch.”
When not at church, Kenneth enjoyed spending time with family and friends and tinkering with his rebuilt 1966 Mustang. His joy was helping others and being a connector. Reaching out and visiting with those he knew for a long time, or whether you were just introduced, he enjoyed learning other people’s story.
Kenneth retired from Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas. He worked 37 years at the institute and maintained many friendships from that time until this day.
A memorial and celebration of life will take place at Bulverde Baptist Church on Saturday, September 21st at 11:00 a.m. Church address: 1331 Bulverde Rd.
