Judy Ree Barker Dreggors, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, businesswoman, and faithful servant of the Lord, was born on October 10, 1944, in Crowell, Texas, and passed peacefully in San Antonio, Texas, on August 1, 2026.
Judy was raised in the close-knit community of Foard County, Texas, by her loving parents, Roy Newton Barker and Vera Mae (Canup) Barker. She grew up alongside her siblings, Roy Fred Barker, Betty Fern Caldwell, and Marjorie Ruth (“Booty”) Bell, surrounded by the values of hard work, faith, and family that would guide her throughout her life. Judy loved to tell stories about her childhood in Crowell, her fond memories of her extended family, her horse, Salty, and her father’s livelihood as a rancher and farmer, raising cattle and growing wheat and cotton.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Harry Dreggors; her parents; and her beloved siblings.
For more than forty years, Judy and Harry made their home on twenty peaceful acres of woodland just outside Seguin, Texas. Together they created not just a home, but a haven where family, friends, and neighbors were always welcomed with warmth and generosity. They raised goats, sheep, and an ever-changing collection of beloved cats. Judy found great joy in the wildlife that frequented their property. Deer and foxes came to know that Judy always kept tortillas and hot dogs on hand for them.
Judy's greatest happiness was found in bringing people together. Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas celebrations at the Dreggors home became cherished family traditions, filled with laughter, wonderful meals, and treasured memories that will continue to be held close by all who gathered around her table.
A woman of remarkable determination and business acumen, Judy was a founding partner of Service Mechanical Group, LLC (SMG), a San Antonio-based HVAC service provider that served many of the largest businesses, institutions, and military installations throughout Central and South Texas. Her integrity, professionalism, and tireless work ethic helped establish a company built on excellence and trust. Before founding SMG, Judy worked for O'Toole Mechanical Services, Inc. and Honeywell Inc., where she developed the expertise that would serve her throughout her successful career.
Above all else, Judy's faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. As a devoted member of Forest Hills Baptist Church, she faithfully served as church treasurer for many years and was deeply committed to the growth and ministry of her church family. Her grandchildren especially treasure joyful memories of spending summers with Grandma Judy at Vacation Bible School, where she shared with them her deep faith and love of family.
Judy is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Susan (Michael) Fogarty, her son, Rex (Sandra) Whitten, her grandchildren, Jessica (John) Mosele, Emmaline (Morgan) Postle, Hannah (Chad Ahn) Fogarty, Holly Whitten, and Maggie Whitten, and her great-grandchildren, Walker Mosele and Hayden Postle.
She is also survived by her stepchildren, Jan (John) Davis, Charlie (the late Nellie) Dreggors, David (Ann) Dreggors, and Katherine (John) McCullough. She leaves behind her step-grandchildren, Leslie Davis, Ashley (Ryan) Dreggors-Ashcraft, Eric Dreggors, Sam Dreggors, Allison (Drew) Bredholt, Caroline Dreggors, Jason Dreggors, Scout McCullough, Elizabeth McCullough, and Molly McCullough, as well as her step-great-grandchildren Owen, Maci, and Noah Ashcraft.
Judy is also remembered with love by her niece, Sara (Jim) Walser, her nephews, Keith (Julie) Bell and Brad Caldwell, and her grandnieces and grandnephews, Erica (Chuck) Summerlin, Aaron (Lauren) Bell, Adam Bell, and Sarah Bell. Judy treasured the bonds she shared with her family, whose love and memories will continue to honor her life and legacy.
Those who knew Judy will remember her gentle kindness, quiet strength, unwavering faith, generous hospitality, and deep love for her family. Whether opening her home to loved ones, serving her church, helping build a successful business, or simply feeding the deer at sunset, Judy lived a life marked by compassion, grace, and selfless devotion to others.
Though her family grieves her passing, they rejoice in the assurance that she has been welcomed into the eternal presence of her Savior and reunited with Harry and those who went before her. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a gift that will continue to live on in all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A memorial service celebrating Judy's life will be held at Forest Hills Baptist Church, 8251 FM 1117, Seguin, Texas 78155, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
Judy will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Harry, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, with a private interment to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial gifts to Forest Hills Baptist Church.
